SEO, Social, Video, Ads, or Viral: The 5 Marketing Levers

In the era of disruption in marketing, choosing how to spend your time has been one of the most important decisions a business can make. This means deciding not only what to do, but also what not to do, whether that’s building an SEO foundation, creating video assets that build brand trust, investing in advertising despite its risks and uncertainties, or using viral marketing to build a fandom.

SEO Marketing: Compounding Returns

If you are running a business, you can make a website so that people can easily find your business and information on the internet.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is an effort your company makes to be found by the customers already searching for what you offer. The results can compound over time, like compound interest.

Social Media: High Impact, Fast Decay

Social Media Marketing maximize your visibility in the short term. Your post can take off like a rocket, but it can fade just as quickly in a sea of new content.

Because audience engagement is immediate yet fleeting, delivering a clear key brand message is crucial. Plus, you can drive this traffic directly to your website by embedding a link, turning short-term attention into long-term SEO momentum.

Video Assets: Brand Awareness and Trust

If you want to build brand awareness among the mass market, video content that conveys your sincerity and vision can be highly effective.

For instance, if you are selling infant formula, ingredient safety, which matters most to moms is a key message worth highlighting. If you want to sell forklifts, strong torque gives warehouse managers a reason to consider your product.

Advertising : Risks, Rewards, and Audience Insights

If you want to make a sale, maybe you think you should run ads. But it’s worth understanding that relying on advertising for revenue can sometimes be extremely difficult.

Even if you hire a marketing agency, you can end up spending money on an audience that isn’t related to your core target.

Nevertheless, if you stay patient with the advertising and keep improving along the way, you will ultimately achieve your goal with better insight into your product, your audience and the digital landscape.

Viral Marketing: Building a Fandom

If you want to create a fandom or generate buzz for a promotional season, viral marketing with professional bloggers and celebrities can help. Their positive image and your brand equity can reinforce each other.

But since you are relying on their reputation and image, there is always a risk that bad news about a celebrity can affect your brand’s image as well.

On the other hand, if you want to turn your brand’s bad image into a good one, it can be hard to find someone willing to collaborate with you.

In short, viral marketing is one more lever for spreading positive brand awareness and growing a loyal fandom.

We Need to Share Experience in Marketing

These are the things I’ve learned from working in marketing since 2019. I was always curious about marketing and how it can affect a business and a company. I’ll keep learning as long as I work in this field. Everything in marketing changes in real time, and that’s the reason why marketing is such a fun and enjoyable job.

I always believed that ‘doing’ matters most, taking action while keeping track of data and history for the future learning. But now I understand that writing down what I saw, heard and felt is also important, as it’s how we share what we will do, and what we won’t.

This is the first post I’m creating with that in mind, and I’d love for us to share whatever feels meaningful with each other.
